Chew some gum to celebrate the birthday of William Wrigley Jr., the man who brought us
"pure chewing satisfaction." Trivia buffs: To grow all the mint Wrigley needs for its mint-flavored gums requires 53 square miles of farmland -- about 30,550 football fields!

At the 1939 New York World's Fair, a time capsule sponsored by Westinghouse was buried. Among the 35 items placed inside were a fountain pen, an alphabet block set, copies of Life magazine, a kewpie doll, one dollar in change, a pack of Camel cigarettes, and millions of words of text put on microfilm rolls. The capsule is designed to be opened 5,000 years later in 6939!

"The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it."

-- John C. Maxwell

Today is Thailand Lucky Day

While many computer alarmists feared this date in 1999, people in Thailand were considering it the luckiest of days. Since the Thai word for the number 9 (Khao) literally means "step forward" or "progress," this date in 1999 was considered an especially auspicious time for new projects.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into
a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
